I had one of my cornsnakes attack small children at a WSPCR show in Richmond before I came out here... when they stopped crying (from air strikes, not even real bites) it turns out they'd been handling a ferret that'd been brought to the building for some reason I can't remember Anyway, a lot of people freak out when they see a snake tightening when their grip is insecure...not constricting, just holding on. I'm more interested in who let a 5 year old handle a corn snake on her own than why the cornsnake held on like that... really, you'd have to have some pretty serious congenital heart damage to have your cardiopulmonary system significantly compromised by a cornsnake, even as a little kid.

It always amazes my how badly people will freak out about a snake - it shouldn't surprise me anymore, but it does...
How could anyone actually think that the kid was in danger?? But I agree that the kid probably shouldn't have been handling the snake on her own, but still...It's just a corn snake!!
