Hi. Thought i'd check in to see if there was any discussion on recent events and if anyone was looking after damage control. I heard an interesting radio segment about snakes in Saskatchewan. They are looking for input. cjme.com/audio/himpe-don-sam-maciag-python-who-killed-young-boy-was-freak-accident/125123?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitterAlso, a lot of news articles about snakes in Sasktchewan. Some notable quotes from this article. www.newstalk650.com/story/lots-interest-having-pythons-pets-regina/125003The Ministry of Environment’s Lyle Saigeon said in order to bring a python in to Saskatchewan, you would need a wildlife import permit which he said has not been issued for large snakes in quite some time. The Captive Wildlife Regulations previously stated that owning a python was illegal, however the snake’s classification was recently changed and now the law needs updating.“We’re currently in the process of revising our Captive Wildlife Regulations, not specifically just for snakes,” he outlined. That could include crocodiles since those animals are technically legal to have as the law stands now. When it comes to pythons though, Saigeon said it won’t be an outright ban. “It isn’t necessarily a blanket prohibition of all pythons but the large pythons that pose public risk will not be allowed if they’re deemed to be dangerous.”

Ryan, you're alive! Nice to see you Here in Alberta both ERAS and TARAS have been hit hard with media requests. We have a pretty strong front that our current legislation is adequate for this issue and not in need of change. The fact that this is raising issue in Saskatchewan and encouraging an update and non-complete ban is very encouraging. With your province not having as organized groups yet, is there someone that can act as a frontman or hobby representative? The best that I can offer is reference to how well things work out in the Albertan system for both safety and hobbyist/business rights. (The current list certainly has it's flaws, but the system works IMO).
