I work in the confed petland fish/reptile room and we have a 2.5 foot male pacific gopher snake that was eating and shedding just awesome then one day it decided to become the devil. We pulled it off the shelf a month ago and have it it the back room by itself. This snake as soon as it sees someone it lifts its head and follows you waiting to bite you if you lift the lid off its enclosure. Any advice would be great as its sad seeing this beautiful snake in this state of stress all the time.

Is it in blue? If not I would tame it down. Just pick it up (with confidence) and handle it for a little every day. A bite from a 2.5 foot snake is nothing.

Best I can do is $125 plus some feeders. If interested in seeing the snake message me as I will have to tell who ever is working the snake is discounted and available.

Well he still coils up when first approached but once he is in your hands its fine. Progress I guess.

I have a young black pine about 2 feet in length and has the same type of behavior. If you go in and grab him very little issues, if you miss the first time or he's just being himself he will strike and hiss loud. Can be heard a all over the house. Just handle them they get better, have lots that started that way hitting everything in site but tame down. Find that the snakes that I have bought that were housed in the plastic bins seem to be more on the aggressive side. Not sure if it has anything todo with anything.

Well we created a handling program just for this one snake and it worked as he became friendly, he is actually going to a new home saturday morning with a 42g reptology snake habitat. Thanks everyone for the advice.
