Hey Shaun, are you still interested in eastern coachwhips? I've asked around to keep eyes open for masticophis f. flagellum, along with some stuff I'm looking for. I just wanted to double check your interest level so I can give a ya or nay at last minute. Is anyone else interested in this species?

Hey Ian, Yep, I am still very interested in getting eastern coachwhips - thanks for thinking of me! If you locate any I would love to know. Glades herp has a few on their current pricelist. We (Reptile World) may be placing an order with them for some venomous snakes, and if we do I think I will add a coachwhip or two for myself. How are things going with the Suriname toads (Pipa pipa)? I'd like coachwhips, but only if they're feeding on something other than snakes... When are you placing a glades order? They have blind snakes and I've been obsessed with those for, like, ever. Would you want to order a few? I'm not in AB but I can certainly make a trip out.

Good luck with getting the whips from glades. I wanted to grab a trio for myself but have decided I really need to practice the ol' N-O again. Come to think about it, let me know when the order comes in, I'd like to see what Dave is adding to the zoo The pipa are doing really well. Two died withen 24hrs, and I did some really interesting post-mortems on them. You can check it out in the general forum on reptilescanada. The other two are just thriving. I was worried about making sure they were both eating, but soon found each of them snatching up fish as fast as I could toss them in. Now my only dilemma is finding which sex they are. I know of a few cues to look for, but making the actual decision is difficult so far. Ian

Alex, I don't know for sure when (or if) we are placing the Glades order. One of the snakes we want is a king cobra and the CITES permits take 90 days or so. If we do order animals I'm sure it would be fine to add a few for you... I'll just talk to Dave (the Curator) and let you know. Do you still have your glossy snake? Where did you get it? That is another species I really want to work with. Ian, what are you looking for? I'm sure that if Glades had animals you were interested we could also add some to our order. As I said I will talk to Dave and let you both know. Oh yeah, did you go see 'Frogs Too' in Big Valley yet? Shawn

Ok I'll be out of the province in 90 days, so I'll just harass Port Credit.
I got my Western glossy snakes at a reptile-and-amphibian-only petstore in Montreal. I know I went to two while I was there, and it's the one that I vaguely recall having Amazon somewhere in the name. (You see, my friends took my wallet away after awhile and wouldn't let them give me a business card)
My female kicked it shortly after purchase, but she had anisocoria and neurological signs in the first place (I recognised at the time she was a dumb buy, but she was the only female they had. She did live a few months and seemed to be doing better before she died). The male is fat and happy and healthy. They shed really quickly, it's weird... mine is literally every month and from what I've read in the literature that's normal.

Sean, I"m looking for rough green snakes. After browsing the glades site I could add a million other animals, but need to be realistic of course. Most of my money this summer is going towards herp'n trips which I can't complain about at all!
As an aside, do you guys keep any deceased in the freezer? Do permits cover the deceased as well? I would love access to any oddballs you have for necropsy, but of course would want to stay withen the law and not cross Dave either.
