I am building a terrarium out of an old built in china cabinet and was wandering if there any any specs about paint or varnish I should know about. I want to split this unit in half so I can house 2 of my corns. Don't want to use anything that is going to harm them though. Of course I have to paint or varnish so wanted some info before I did it, any help would be muchly appreciated.

The only advice I have is to choose a durable covering and to make sure to let it dry very well and let gases disperse completely before using it - should likley be a couple weeks between when it is dry and when animals first go into it to make sure all fumes are gone. Also using vinyl flooring makes it a lot easier to clean as does silicone around all the the seams.
Best of luck with it - while these can look nice, they are often a real challenge to maintain,
