Has anyone had experience with their horned frog aestivating/hibernating? My understanding is that they do this when the temps become "extreme" either hot or cold. We recently moved our horned frog into a 10 gallon that we planted with some live plants and we didn't see him for about a week because he had buried himself under one of the plants. I thought he might have been a little stressed from the move so I pulled the plant out and checked on him and fed him. Today he's completely buried again somewhere. We keep him in our herp room that has an ambient temp between 75-80 degrees. Any suggestions?

My understanding is that horned frogs do spend most of their time buried in the substrate when they have it. Our frog was always buried unless he was eating. Honestly - he was a big fat body of jelly. The only time he was ever active was when he ate. I don`t think you have anything to worry about.

That's pretty much what I thought but figured it would be best to ask someone. I think I'm gonna change the tank a bit. It's a bit of a pain to have to dig him out every couple of days to feed him. Thanks Cindy
