Just wondering if there is any way to tell if a Female is pregnant or not and how long the gestation period is. I recently received a male and female pair of Corns and they've been kept together. Could she be pregnant? Thanks A Lot Andrew

You may be able to feel eggs by applying gentle pressure along the belly but not everyone is good at that. You will also see swelling of the hind part of the body in some females as eggs develop - again not consistently a good sign. The female will no longer accept breeding once she is carrying eggs. She will also eat strongly until her pre-lay shed and then will not usually eat after that. But each female is different.
The best approach is to provide her with a nest box just in case.

I would separate them - it is just easier to manage if they are apart.

So if I've seen them going at it is it best to just hope for the best? Or should I wait and see a bit longer... Such a noob at this

Well I woke up this morning to the sounds of scuffles in the tank and when i took a closer look I saw that the male was trying to get things started. I left them alone for about 10 minutes after watching for about 5 and nothing had happened. Next thing i knew the female was long gone from the male. Is this her indication of avoidance to breed? Can I get excited yet? Also, if she hasn't shed for me and the guy I got them from doesn't remember their last shed, should I expect her next one to be soon and be her pre-lay? Or is there a longer wait for the eggs to develop? I thought I knew alot more than I do but I guess you can never know too much
