My leos have laid the first egg of the season apparently but we did not have the incubator ready. The egg is dried out....would there be any point in trying to incubate it or is the (possible) baby lost? We tried to keep it moist until we got the incubater going but unfortunately were unable to keep it that way. Should I still bother incubating it? I feel so bad I wasn't prepared

Hey there ,I don't know too much about leos, but never give up on an egg until you are 100% sure it has rotted. How much has it dried or sunk in?? It's still salvageable if its 40% sunken possibly.I would incubate it and increase the moisture and see if it will retain form.If so ,it is probably still good.

I agree with Shawn, never give up on an egg unless you are completely sure it's beyond salvation. I've had both cornsnake and leopard gecko eggs that were very sunken and dried out but I incubated anyway and managed to salvage some.
One method I've used is to cover the eggs with either damp paper towels or moss and that has brought a few eggs back for me.

Congrats on the eggs by the way!! I started out breeding a few leos and they were always fun, I really should get some again as pets.
