The parents of these little guys are Miami and Snow Motley/Stipe, and I had my fingers crossed for a couple amels to hatch out of the group, which would prove my Miami has some hidden traits. But when the snakes hatched, I noticed four red noses sticking out of the eggs. So far only the one little guy crawled out, but he isn't an amel after all. Looks like a crimson! What do you think?? Since posting this on the other forums, I had another three crimsons hatch out. Very nice surprise!

Very nice hypo!! I think whether or not they turn out to look like crimsons will depend on appearance as they mature - typically crimsons are hypos that come from miami lines, so given that the father is a miami, they could be called crimsons. There is some degree of selective breeding in miamis that is lost when they are outcrossed, so will depend on how strict you want to be in your definitions.
Either way they are great looking - and nice normals too - rich color. It is definitely a bonus to discover hidden hets. It is also possible that the snow is homozygous for hypo - if you get close to half the clutch as hypos then that would suggest she is homozygous, if it is closer to 1/4 hypo then it is likely that she is het. The snows that are homozygous hypo can be somewhat pinker than normal snows but it would be very hard to tell with the influence of the motley gene on top of that.
congrats again on the clutch - great looking hatchlings.

Thanks Mary. I couldn't have done it without your help. The snow I got from you really came through for me this year.

Glad she produced for you - she was a great looking female and I hope you get some nice offspring from any of those that you keep back for future breedings - could be some really nice variety in them.
