I was hurt'n for some herp'n so left after supper to see what was about. I really need to find some good snorkl'n spots around here; everything seems to be pretty sludgy and murky. I decided upon Elk Island Park. If nothing to dive into at least I had a pretty good chance at some boreal toads after dark. Before even getting to the gates I abandoned the van and chased this guy up a tree while fumbling for the camera. The bison were up and about lazily feeding on the moist grasses after a noon rain. Toads are limited to the northeast side of the park. The sun was on the horizon by the time I got there and there were many wood frogs along the path. I crossed 6 yearlings and 4 adults in total. While I wasn't paying attention a thunderstorm blew in and pretty much ended the night. I hid under a bush to see if I could wait it out but after an hour watching the bugs it was time to go home. Even the bison were ready for bed. Ironically, as I left the park the rain stopped. I'll take it as an invitation to come back again Ian
