Sorry for the cross post, but I'm sure not everyone visits the same forums as me, and I like to share They've probably been out for at least a few days now, but the garter snakes were out and active today at the Eden densite west of Edmonton. Can you see the snake that Tony's looking at? I sure can't! A bunch took a break from all the sex to see who was taking a picture of it all :eek: After the den, I stopped at Wagner Bog. No frogs out and about, but many, many calling from the waterways. Rana sylvatica in the bog, and pseudocris maculata abundant out in the more neutral water. This is the only photo I got of one of the wood frogs. I'm above on a platform. Now my most exciting find wasn't a herp, but something completely unexpected. A millipede! I had no idea Alberta had them, it was about 4cm long, quite fast (for a millepede) and each segment had three distinct rings of brown. Super neat Ian

nice pics I still have to get out to see a garter den some day. a mating ball would be kick ass to see. chris
