Got a few piks of my turtle setup , so far.Always expanding and updating though. This setup will work for awhile. Eventually going to tidy up the chords and maybe close in the back of the shelf as to hide them.I hate messy looking chords.. I left the filters hosing long , incase you are wondering, because I might need them longer in the future. They are working excellent this way and no trouble. It looks not as neat , like they would if they were cut shorter , but oh well. Good for now.Plan on moving this summer so setup will be more permanent then. Gollum , my florida snapper sure is enjoying his new enclosure....

What other species are had there? It won't be long before them are ponds instead of aquariums ! I do like the lids- I've use the exact same ones on my cages more than once Ian

Yeah , I buy just a big roll of wire that I cut to fit any tank of mine. It's not for escape reasons but my safety precautions , just incase the lights that are suspended somehow fall. And yes some I rest the lights right on the wire . In that particular pik , I am housing florida snappers, matamata, and alligator snappers. Yes they are all young and you are right Ian they will be ponds instead of aquariums soon. Already making plans and arrangements to setting up bigger more permanent habitats. My red ears have a nice big enclosure already . I have 7 of those , 2 red foots, and 2 ornate box turtles , that make up the others you don't see in this particular room. Oh , in the bottom little tank there , I have a tiger salamander.

Here's a few piks of my red ear setup that is downstairs . It is quite the reservoir and includes a huge basking deck with 2 heat lamps over head suspended which are connected to a timer.I have no filtration for them as of now nor have I ever for my red ears. It is alot of work to clean the tub but my little pump that I got is very handy for this.I then hook up a garden hose to my taps downstairs to refill. It also includes 2 large bins that I have sunk into the floor of the deck which are about 18 inches high.I fill it with sand and peat moss for them to lay.

Almost exactly the same as mine! We have a big cut off bin like the pic I posted for the koi tank...with a big rock basking platform and two flood lights. No laying boxes for my girls though. We don't filter ours either - just drain frequently with a sump pump and refill...We used to try to filter, but I never found a filter that could keep up...And now with 7 (8 as of tommorrow ) RES and my painted and mississippi map in there too, there is just no point fighting with a filter. nice stuff, just plain and simple, but more than adequate. Have you had success breeding with this settup? Do they use the peatmoss to lay? I'm not a huge fan of RES breeding with all the rescues out there, but it'd be nice to hatch the odd egg for fun Ian

I use a 250 gallon plastic watering trough with a basking platform covering about half of it I roped C into building for me.... The lights are suspended above that I got an Eheim 2260 (the only brand of filter I bother with anymore, I hate filstars and most of the filter brands I can get in this province) and it works pretty well. I need to clean it every 8-12 weeks, depending on what is going on with the turtles, and I have about the same number of adult RES and similar in there as you, Kaley. It's nice that the intake for the Eheim is about the same width as the drain in the bottom, so it actually stays really really clean.... plus with the little giant/ hose combo, water changes and refilling goes pretty quite. Works pretty well and was pretty cheap, the eheim was probably the most expensive and I got it pretty cheap off Ebay.... plus I like how it's all still modular and it's quite easy to move around or replace specific pieces

I have had success breeding with this setup , Ian. I do agree with you when you say hatchin out the odd RES would be fun. That is what I do , hatch out the odd RES , . I do not pump them out by any means and each year I do produce a few. I am down to 2 females though only now along with 4 males . My female that had septicemia when I got her many years ago died back in the fall , and she was a real good layer and produced well. If all goes well I will probably have the odd one this year but nothing in any means of mass producing. I have hopes that one day I will hatch out an albino.
