This first cage is very basic, but very easy. It is made out of 1’’ melamine (very heavy stuff that is) and simply screwed together like a box. 8 x 4’ sheets for the top, back, bottom and front, and one more cut in 2 for the ends. 2 doors with windows, and 2 more windows in the front were added. We used a bathtub as a water pool (for the water monitor) These pictures were taken when Vanan and I moved this cage to my basement. Katt found it quite roomy, but we had to let her out to put the water monitor inside. Here is a partial picture of the large cage I built in, intended for a pair of crocodile monitors. I couldn’t back up far enough to get the whole thing in the picture. It is 8' tall, 13' long, and 7' deep.

I always loved that built in cage at the Zoo, I'm planning something similar that I'm going to build down in the basement. Dimensions won't be quite as big though, lol.

Yes, we are allowed croc monitors. The croc monitors I were to get, "fell through". Still my favorite monitor and some day I will keep a pair.
In Saskatchewan, we are allowed to keep all lizards (komodo dragons to gila monsters), and all crocodillians (Niles and Salty's included) but not kenyan sand boas, ball pythons, or childrens pythons.
