I posted this here so that many people would see it.
One member pm'd me to let me know they have had logging in troubles.
"unless I set it to 6 hours, it won't ackowledge me a registered at the top of the page, and it won't let me reply to any posts...It does show me as logged in at the very bottom of the page..."
I'm not exactly sure how to fix this right now, but if anyone is having the same problems, please let me know about it. If you can't log on, email me at Ryan@hisscanada.com.
Sheila had similar trouble, but we blamed it on other computer trouble... If she does not post an introduction thread soon, since she is still living here, that means I have to throw eggs at my own house, and we can't have that happening...
Also, I see a re-occuring guest on the forum. I'm not sure if that person might be having trouble logging in, or just likes to read the forum without joining (a lurker). The IP address points to a cable Regina / access communications user, the email would likely be something@accesscom
If this person is you and you are having trouble logging in, please email me. If you are just reading the forum quite often and thinking about joining up, please join up.

Scroll down and set your log on time to "forever" and you shouldn't have to log in again.

Wow, I had not noticed that option! I hope that takes care of the login problem mentioned in the first post.
Tim, you are wicked awesome!

But if we login "forever" won't it show everyone logged in all of the time? and then how will we know who is actually logged in? Or does no one else look at that little feature (ie I'm the only one that would care!)?

No problems here - but I have been using the 'forever' option since early on - I hate to log in. I don't think it shows people who are logged in forever as being 'on line' unless they are actually connected to the web site - if everyone else sees me as in here all the time I must be wrong - but often I don't see anyone else listed as on line at the same time as I am in,

It only shows you being logged in when you are actually at the site. If you leave the window open all night, and forget about it, it will show you being logged in all night.
Right now neither Kaley or Mary show as being logged in.

Or does no one else look at that little feature (ie I'm the only one that would care!)? Kaley I look at the little feature when I'm on just out of curiousity to see how many people are checking the forum. That is why I noticed a the guest (and with admin features I can see their IP addresses) Right now only one forums contents are hidden from view to "non members", the secret society page. As the forum is set up now, absolutely anyone can look at everything we say. I don't really have a problem with that I guess, as long as everyone remembers that the way it is, not only members can see all of the posts. Sometimes people are more open and willing to use a forum that has a more homey feel that comes with only members being able to see it. Some forums only leave the "general forums" open for guests to be able to read, and restrict access to the other forums to encourage people to sign up. I have already heard from 1 person who doesn't feel this is an issue at all. However, I have seen some past instances where it has become a problem on "small community" type of forums like this. That wa partially the reason for the HISS membership rule and the Introduction rule. Guests can not make posts (troll for example), and I guess anyone who was intent on wrecking any fun could sign up under a fake name without us knowing about it. Anybody have any thoughts either way about restricting access to read the forums to members only? Ryan

I have never had a problem logging in. But I'm sure glad to hear about the stay logged in forever! I too hate logging in each time but also thought that if I didn't it would show me as being online. But if you are logged in forever Mary, I know I only see you occasionally. ( usually noonish I think! lol) And no, Kaley, you aren't the only one that looks to see who else is logged in. Keep the posts coming ppl. I really like this forum. Carol
