My anery girl laid some surprise eggs the other night. She was living with my amel boy, and I split them up once I saw they were mating. A month came and went, she didn't seem to be any larger... finally, two months after I split them up, she had eggs (for easter no less!) Now she appears much smaller, of course. I was wondering why she was hunting so much the last couple weeks, yet refusing to eat - must have been looking for somewhere to lay. I feel pretty stupid about that, not putting it together... poor girl... I saw them when she had only laid 2 out of 9, so I moved them to an incubator box when they were still 'fresh'. I have them on perlite, temp is around 29 degrees. Very humid, yet they seem to be dimpling (some more than others). One of the best condition ones has two stripes on it today, kind of translucent pink, like the shell is turning clear there. (I don't think it is anything on the egg, but the egg itself). Anyway... new to this, looking for some pointers and such. I'm pretty anxious to see what morphs they will be if they do hatch. the male is amel (het caramel iirc). the girl is anery but I don't know her history, so she could be het.. something. Is it possible the eggs were in her for two months? or they started developing a month after i split them up? Wonder if they get 'time served' for that... I'll post some pictures when I get my camera charged up...

Here is the set up I use for my snake eggs. I put the eggs in then cover them in moist moss. I incubate at 82'F(27'C) Do not go any higher than 89'F(31'C) For morphs you will most likely get some normals. If your Anery is het for Amel you will get a few Amels. If your Amel is het Anery and Anery is het Amel you will get some Normals, Amels, Anerys, and maybe some Snows. Its a small clutch so your odds are pretty low.

Yeah, I'm not expecting anything but normals, but there could be some surprises. Do you get a lot of condensation on the roof/walls of your containers? Is that just perlite you are using, below the eggcrate?

I hardly get any condensation at all. Ya its perlite.

Alright, maybe mine is too humid then. I left the lid open a crack today, see if that helps.
Everything I've read says dimpling is a sign of being too dry though, not too wet. Who knows. Guess I'll cross my fingers.

Here is a crappy cell phone picture doesn't look too good I had them partially buried before, doesn't seem to make any difference. Put damp paper on top, also no difference. Maybe I'll try moss. I changed out the perlite, maybe it was too wet before. a lot of condensation. hrmm picture isnt working. they seem to be getting more dimpled
