Hi Sherie
A picture would be great to see. After talking with you today - I looked back into my past records and 25g isn`t the worst weight in the world for a garg that is around 1 year old. Especially if it was in fact only ever fed baby food. I noticed that you indicated that it should be closer to 50g on rhachs canada site and that would be incorrect. I have been doing this for years and have noticed that most cresties/gargs make it just over 30g at one year going over past logs that I have. So realistically you new garg isn`t far off track.
The most important thing is to allow it time to settle in before bothering it too much. A new home is always a stressful time for an new animal. If it was fed a diet of only baby food it may take some time to get it started on a proper diet. Do not get discouraged if it doesn`t take the crickets either. In the past our gargs went as excited about crickets when they became adults and would prefer the easy meal of repashy.
Just keep her hydrated the next couple of days and introduce food on the weekend and she should be fine.
Good Luck

Thanx Cindy. Ya, I have started her on Repashy and she finally ate some on her own today I increased her humidity levels and have been placing her in a container with damp paper towel to help her get the stuck shed off her feet. When I brought her home she was VERY limp. I notice a big difference even today since getting repashy into her. Attachments:

She does look super boney and her tail looks kinked? They usually get kinked up from lack of calcium. I am sure in a month she will look a lot better. Make sure you are using the calcium plus to dust her crickets up and you could put a tiny bit extra into her repashy. Make sure you keep her quarantined from the rest of the critters for at least 3 months.

Ya, she is very bony. That's why I am so concerned. I have her in her own terrarium and have the repashy goods flowing in her home Her tail was a bit kinked but seems to have straightened out a bit.. she was a bit shakey today though. She needs serious TLC but I am certainly up for the job.

hmm, Cindy.. do you mean to have her in a different area all together even though she is in her own terrarium? ? Are some things they can pass airborne??

Alright, I am definately worried. Despite the fact that she has been eating dusted crickets and repashy, Sid has gone from 25 grams to 22.5!! Why in the world would she be LOSING more weight when she is eating a better diet?! Her vent is clear so parasites aren't really suspect ( or so I have been told) . Help!

ya, that is what I am leaning toward as well. because she is so skinny I was told not to medicate her unless testing positive and/or seeing signs around her vent. her vent is clear, and the closest exotcis vet is 2 hours away.. looks like I have a road trip in store!

No this isn`t always the case. We always, always quarantine at our house any new critters for at least 3 months as a rule. Nothing new ever goes into the reptile room. We also use different utensils for feeding and caring. In all the years I have been doing this I have seen a few different peoples collection wiped out by parasites or other disease. You can never be too safe. This is also a good example of why you should never buy anything sick - as sad as it is to leave it there its honestly better for your and your critters for it not to come home A good quarantine isn`t always the answer either - sometimes you won`t notice something in the first 3 months - That is why it is always important to only bring home the healthiest animals. In the long wrong it saves you the heartache and keeps your critters safe. Anyways I`ll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Oh crap, this really sucks. Well I am going to get her to the vet asap for testing and hope that if she does have anything that she wont pass it along.

Things are looking up! Sid's tests came back fine and she has gained a few grams!!! I can actually see her spine disappearing behind some meat! I guess she was just THAT malnourished! Keeping her feeding regime, humidity, and her UV lighting up and hoping to see more progress
