Big Thanks to Jim (J&J Reptiles) for getting me this proven female Malagasy Giant Hognose as a ladyfriend for my male. She is calm, and perhaps a little tired due to her recent egg-laying, and is going to lead to a very exciting project for next year. Thanks again Jim! Thanks for looking :>

You and me both, lol... The male looks like this: He isn't quite as calm as she is... quite the hisser/groaner. Though he has never struck at me, he prefers to shove me away with his body.

They get about 4 to 6 feet, and are medium-bodied, a little thicker than a corn or rat snake, more like a bull. The reason I even pursued these guys is because they are one of the only species of hognose we are permitted in Alberta.

You can keep the tri-coloured hognoses as well. There's a few central and South American species. There are also a tonne of other similiarly odd rostral species that are legal to keep. Patchnoses, leafnoses etc. They arn't kept very much due to oddball diets for the most part. There's probably a lot of other "non-Heterodon" hognoses in the old world as well.

Including of course speckled and blonde from Madagascar as well. I *intend* to do my best to make these a little more available at least ...
