The total inclosure mesaures in at around 8'x8', and the water volume itself is around 300-500gal (not sure exactly), there is 2 basking lamps each with a differnt wattage so the turtles can self regulate a bit, but they mostly prefer the hotest area. And like to all sit together (except samatha who seems to like to sit in a cooler area, our western painted). We finaly got our plants in today so set them up and took some pictures. The turtles seem to like it enough, let me know what you think

Its going to be pumped out and empty over the summer, they go to our outdoor pond for hte summer.
Eartheater, trick is to get your wife very into the hobbie as well. For me it was fairly easy as my wife had a turtle before me (we have had sheldon since my wife was 4 years old). But we both worked on the setup my wife has never done any carpentry but i made sure she used all the tools and tried everything and helped design and get into the project. Also it was alot cheaper then anything else as we got hte pond shell off kajiji for $80, and my wife loves cheaper.

I think you have the Tahoe pond its around 300g. What sort of filter do you have on that? I'm going the peavey mart platic stock tank route for my red ears. I like all the rock work around the water, do your tutles ever go for a drop off the outside lip of your enclosure?

Glad you asked, the if you look closly the rocks built for them to climb are on the top left of the picture, follow the edge around and there are rocks blocking the way for them to get to the front edge so they can only climb out and be on the edge next to the wall. (i love how sneaky and natural that is.. everyone asks that ) Could be the 300g like i said i have no idea how big it is but its fairly big has no rating on it, maybe in the summer i will mesaure with a 10gal pail. feels a little larger then 300g but it could be 300g. I checked the specs on the Tahoe from laguna listee at (150g). and ours is much larger in volume does not fit any of the dimensions and does not look right. Do yuo have a link to the pond shell you were thinking of? (my guess of 300-500 is based on how many 55gal aquarims i think would fit in it... very scientific) i would love to know the actuall size and volume.

That's awesome, great job! I didn't even think to look up kijiji for a pond like that. I have a smaller one and need a couple larger ones for a few of my guys. Price has always been the issue (well, and space, but things can always be stacked above). A garden center wanted $430 for the size larger than that!

Most people just want htem gone so prices are pretty good.
