Speaking of "One-eyed" geckos... Here is the other side of breeding that people don`t always talk about. I don`t care for the term "cull", just as much as I can`t do it. Honestly, yes, I can cull (kill an animal with undesirable characteristics) if it is clearly in pain or suffering unreasonably. What I can`t do is cull something that maybe considered undesirable but otherwise healthy. Case 1 - WINKIE He was born with a deformed eyelid which over time has closed completely. He also has a sideways jaw(I call it a hair lip). Other than that, Winkie, is absolutely fine. In fact, Winkie grew a lot quicker than any of the other geckos that were hatched around the same time as him and has a ferocious appetite. In the wild winkie probably wouldn`t make it, and he has no chance of a breeding project in the future. Winkie will be a forever pet at my house. Don`t get me wrong, I don`t have a problem with culling animals, and if Winkie was born into a different collection than my own he most likely would have been culled. Maybe that would be the right thing to do. I know that I don`t have the space to dedicate to Frankenstiens Lab or anything Anyways, just some food for thought for people wanting to breed reptiles...... Attachments:
