I was thinkin of if there was anything new happenin at the science center in their reptile display. It's been years since I've been there , but when I was there I remember they had a couple pythons and Iguana and I beleive a few other snakes and lizards.Has anyone been there recently and know what they are all keeping ? I might take a peak the next time I am in the city , just wandering if it's worth it, or if it has phased out in that area.

they have one big snake. i'm not a snake person. i dunno. sorry. they have a pacman frog, salamander, some smaller snakes. i have a three year old, so we go often. they've now built a section for the animals. it's pretty nice. not sure if it's worth the 8 bucks to get in. but. there's lots of other stuff to play with too!

yeah, if you're looking for big crazy reptiles, or anything really interesting. it's probably not the place to go. i always go into the section when we go, cause they're still fun to watch. but. from what i remember there is only one big snake.

Last time I was there they still had the burm which is now gone I heard plus a few smaller snakes like a Ball, Gopher that kind of thing. It's been quite a while since I was there though and the snakes didn't look very good at the time, stuck sheds and stuff like that.

most of the snakes there including the bulls, and hogs. with the exception of tess (the bull they have had forever) were on loan from garry and lisa at herp gardens in maple creek. and I believe that they have the snakes back there now as well i was told that they took in stretch the burm as well. the collection has been goin down hill for a long time. they had the iguana that licked the outlet and got fryed but he lived for some time and turned grey as a result. then there was the boa that they lost because he got "sick" and there was no proper vet in town for him. reality: they fed him a live rat and the rat won the fight.

I had a friend that worked at the science ctr. and she said the people responsible for the reptiles care really didn't have a clue what they were doing, she didn't either but she just told me things that went on there that made me cringe. One time one of the caregivers thought it would be funny to chase her around the place with a couple of the snakes seeing as she was scared of them.......and this was during buisiness hours!!!

Hey, I'm in Alberta and have heard of this place. It's like the petstore you know you'll be sick at, but enter anyways.

That's really sad! I used to think the Science center was great - but I haven't been there in many, many years. Now I won't ever go back, and I'll stop recommending it to people too! How irresponsible is it to have a display of animals you know nothing about!? Seriously uncool!! Kaley

Yes, it is dissapointing to hear that the reptile display there has dwindled and went to s**t. I was there many years ago and remember they had a few big boids and some other cool things. Good to know though , now I will not go out of my way to check it out.

It really is a shame, if someone who knew what they were doing was in charge it could be a great display there. I actually told the friend that worked there that I'd offer my services free of charge, I'd come in a couple times a week for the major care and have the other staff just handle water changes and that sort of thing.
